    The Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly on Friday, made a donations to the Persons with Disability in the Metropolis to empower them to undertake economic ventures that would sustain their lives and that of their  Families.

    The donation which was awarded to them in the form of industrial equipment and cash was as a part of the assembly's share of the disability fund that covers three percent of the common fund and  was disbursed among a number of various disabled persons.

    speaking at the event, the mayor of STMA, Hon. Anthony K.K SAM expressed the assembly's interest in improving the lives of PWDs in their bid to keeping  them off the streets.

    He hinted that the percentage of the disability fund from the common fund has been increased from two to three percent however, still not enough, hence, the Assemblies make provisions to add up.

    He advised that the items and money are given to the beneficiary as a means of capital for them to improve their livelihood. He also entreated them to try to utilized them into productive ventures.

    He promised that those that are yet to receive their share of the donations due to the limited fund will have theirs in no time.

    Among the beneficiaries were Madam Christiana Efua Quansah, Rebecca  Ekua Andoh, Haruna Wilson and Samuel Essien who were  presented with industrial sewing machines, plumbing machine and oven respectively.

    Charlotte Kobbina and Mary Quaicoe were also among the rest that were presented with cash awards.
