Administrative Officers of STMA Receive Training

In a bid to build the capacity of staff to discharge their duties, a two-day training programme has been held for administrative officers of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly from Thursday 19th to Friday 20th January, 2024. The capacity building was characterized by presentations by the participants on topics such as Records Management, Local Governance Act 2016, Act 936, Revised Conditions of Service, Code of Conduct for the Local Government Service, Client Service Operations, Scheme of Service, Legislative Instrument 2223, Legislative Instrument 1961 and Local Government Staffing Norms. The participants were taken through IT skills training and networking to reduce the frequent paper interface in the discharge of official duties. Addressing participants ahead of the training, the Metro Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Innocent Haligah, noted the importance of public speaking to every Administrative Officer. He added that building the capacity of staff through the presentation techniques would enhance their interpersonal communication skills and boost personal confidence to enable officers cultivate the leadership culture of being on top of local governance issues and the Assembly as a whole. He, therefore, urged Officers to be attentive and grasp all topics, pointing out that knowledge acquisition through such forums would enable officers' buoyancy to work more efficiently. He pointed out that periodic capacity building programmes would be rolled out to give staff the best guide to remain productive. For his part, the Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah, applauded the Co-ordinating Director for the initiative and expressed the hope that officers would display a great sense of duty in the delivery of their work.
