Twenty (20) Senior Metropolitan Guards of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) have been promoted and decorated with their badges
by the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah. Ten guards were promoted from Deputy Chief to Chief, eight from Chief Inspector to
Deputy Chief and two from Deputy Inspector to Chief Inspector.
At the decoration ceremony, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah commended the newly promoted Officers for their hard work over the years and assured them of
the Assembly’s continued support to ensure that they deliver on their mandate. He urged them to continue working hard to justify their promotion
and also inspire the junior officers who serve under them to work more harder to improve on the Assembly’s image and Revenue Mobilization drive.
“It is understandable that promotions like this come with celebrations and no one should begrudge you for that. Indeed, we celebrate with you,
but beyond the celebration comes the responsibilities” the Mayor said. He noted that the operations of the unit usually bring them closer to the
general public and therefore appealed to them, to always portray positive corporate and personal image to earn good names for the Assembly and themselves.
Hon. Mumin acknowledged the challenges faced by the unit in the execution of their mandate and assured that management has their welfare at heart.
He indicated that as a form of motivating officers to work harder, allowances for Guards on the IGF Payroll have been increased whereas their
promotions are being worked on. He added that the Assembly is expecting approval from the National Security Secretariat to introduce a new
ceremonial uniform for the unit.
The Metro Security Co-ordinator, WO1 Emmanuel Alemawor on behalf of the unit and the promoted officers expressed their appreciation to management
of the Assembly for their continuous support to the unit. He promised the commitment of officers and men of the guards’ unit to support management
to execute their mandate to the people of Sekondi-Takoradi.
