The “Youstart GJSP” Commences with A Training for Beneficiaries in Takoradi

The Youstart Ghana Jobs & Skills Project (GJSP), a programme designed by government to provide funding and technical support to youth and youth-led businesses has commenced with a training for the first batch of thirty-five (35) beneficiaries in Takoradi. Youstart GJSP is government’s response to address the looming challenge of youth unemployment in the country. The project aims to provide entrepreneurship training to 5000 youth and startup enterprises, coaching and monitoring support as well as competitive startup supports to about 5000 youth to aid them start and grow their businesses
The programme is currently being piloted at the regional capitals across the country including Sekondi-Takoradi. At a short ceremony to formally open the training in Takoradi, the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul Mumin-Issah pointed out that over one hundred (100) youth in the Metropolis will benefit from the training.

He hinted that government was committed to investing Ten Billion Ghana Cedis over a three-year period towards the creation of about One Million jobs. The Hon. Mayor added that government recognizes the role of the youth to hold the physical and spiritual growth of the nation and would support in all ways possible towards building independent and progressive youth. He implored upon the trainees to accept that the journey would not be rosy and added that their commitment, discipline, humility and hard work would see them through a successful training. He said they should count themselves fortunate to have been chosen to be part of the training adding that the training would pave way for them to be outstanding entrepreneurs they have always envisioned.
