The Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul Mumin Issah Resumes Work.

The western regional Minister, Hon. Kwabina Okyere Darko-Mensah who has been acting as the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi has officially handed over the administration of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) back to Hon. Abdul Mumin Issah, the substantive Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi following his reinstatement. Hon. Abdul Mumin Issah was suspended by His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following an incident with a police officer at a check-point in Takoradi on the night of Wednesday, February 2, 2022. The President, through a letter from the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Decentralization dated 30th August 2022 reinstated the Mayor.

In a brief handing over ceremony held today (Wednesday, August 31, 2022) at the mayor’s office in Sekondi, the Hon Regional Minister and former Ag. Mayor expressed his gratitude to God for making the day possible and also thanked His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for reinstating the Mayor into office.
He expressed his excitement for the return of the Hon. Mayor to rejoin his colleagues and resume his duties. He also thanked the management and staff of the Assembly for their unwavering support during his term as the acting mayor.
The Dean of Western Regional MMDCEs and Municipal Chief Executive of Effia-Kwessimintsim Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kojo Acquah welcomed the mayor back to office and noted that, they have all taken lessons from the unfortunate incident that led to the suspension of their colleague going forward. He assured the mayor of their continuous support even as he resumes work. He finally advised him to let go all that he has gone through the past seven months, and focus on the future for the Metropolis.

In his acceptance speech, the Hon. Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon Abdul Mumin Issah thanked God for his mercies and further expressed his gratitude to His Excellency the President for his fatherly love and the confidence he has bestowed in him. He also thanked the Hon. Regional Minister and Western Regional Dean of MMDCE’s for their tremendous roles played in his reinstatement.

He further thanked his family and the management of the Assembly for their support during those difficult times. He then promised to work together with all stakeholders to continue with the team work and cordiality for the development of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
