His Excellency the President's Nominee, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah as the Metro Chief Executive for Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly was confirmed on Friday, October 15, 2021 with an overwhelming 90.19%percentage. Out of the 53 Assembly Members eligible vote, 51 were in attendance. 46 voted Yes and 5 voted No. The program started at exactly 10:18 am with a prayer saidby Hon. Benjamin Arku followed by the recitation of the National pledge.In attendance were the Hon. Regional Minister, Hon. KwabenaOkyere Darko Mensah, the NPP Regional Chairman, the MDCEs forEffia-Kwesimintsim, Shama and Ahanta West and Daboasi. Also present at thefunction were Members of the Metro Security Council, the clergy/Imams and someTraditional leaders.
The Regional Minster, in his opening remarks admonished theHon. Assembly Members to give an overwhelming endorsement to the nominee. Heintimated that, the nominee was endorsed about a year ago and it's verystressful for any individual to go through two confirmation processes justwithin a year. He stated that the Nominee had worked very hard and mentionedsome of the ongoing projects he inherited and successful supervised as thereconstruction of Takoradi Market Circle, construction of PTC Interchange anddualisation of Paa Grant Roundabout to SECKO Junction road. He commended himfor being a man of action and uniting both the Technocrats and the Hon.Assembly Members to lift the image of the Metropolis.
Two newly government appointees were sworn in by herladyship Rosemary'. The new appointees were Hon. Daniel Cobbinah and Hon Ekow Appiah who replaced Hon. Daniel Caiquo (who is late) and Hon. Ishmael Bravo (whohad travelled out of the country) respectively.
The Western Regional Director for Electoral Commission, Mrs Angelina Tagoe supervised the election. The Regional Minister administered theoath of office.
The newly confirmed MCE in his acceptance speech thanked thePresident for the confidence he has in him to renominate him for the secondtime. He also expressed his appreciation to the Hon. Regional Minister and allthe regional as well as constituency executives of NPP in the Sekondi-TakoradiMetropolis. The mayor again thanked all the Hon. Assembly Members for givinghim an overwhelming endorsement. He pledged to work hard to turn the tides ofthe Metropolis.
