The Institute of Local Government Studies in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) have organized a 3-day leadership training workshop for Hon. Assembly members of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly. The workshop forms part of the REE-G Pilot Project aimed at training Assembly members from forty (40) selected districts on leadership.

Speaking at the event, the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul Mumin-Issah said, the workshop is going to give the Assembly members the opportunity to build their capacity as key actors in the decentralization process. He urged the Assembly members to seize the opportunity to fully participate in the training to acquire the requisite skills which will be of benefit to themselves and the good people of Sekondi-Takoradi.

Mr. Richard Quaingrain, a Local Government Expert, said the training is going to equip the Assembly members with essential leadership skills in deliberations, representation and oversight roles at the local government levels. He also urged the Assembly members to maintain close contact with their electorates for them to be able to consult the people on issues to be discussed in the District Assembly.
