Three Best Candidates To Receive Laptops - Western Reginal Minister.

The Western Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for the Takoradi constituency, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has pledged to reward a laptop each to the three best candidates for the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Takoradi Constituency. The ten (10) overall best candidates will also receive fully-stocked box of groceries for their first term in Senior High School from the Minister.
Hon. Darko-Mensah made these promises when he visited some examination centers for the 2021 BECE within his constituency together with the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah and the Metro Director of Education, Mrs Sally Coleman on Monday as the 2021 BECE candidates take their first paper. The visit to the examination centers was to ensure a smooth commencement of the examination and also give the candidates some words of encouragement to write their papers.
Addressing the candidates at the Bompeh Senior high school examination center, Hon. Darko-Mensah urged them to be serious and make history in this year’s examination. “This exam is a serious exam, not until you write the exams and it is over, it is not over so made sure you continue to study”.

Metropolitan Chief Executive for Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul- Mumin Issah on behalf of the Assembly also pledged ten (10) fully-stocked box of groceries to the ten (10) overall best candidates in the metropolis. Hon. Issah urged candidates to disregard the myth about examination and be confident enough to give out everything they have learnt in the eleven (11) years of their basic education to pass the exams in order to take advantage of the Free Senior High School which have been introduced by the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Akuffo Addo. He further advised the candidates not to end their education at the secondary level but to sail through to the tertiary level.
“The myth about BECE examination was broken with your participation in the mock sponsored by the Assembly so there is nothing to fear about. The President has made your next level of education free. Be self-confident enough to pass the exams so that all of you will benefit from the free S.H.S. Have self confidence that you can make it to make your parents and the President of the Republic proud. Take advantage of the free S.H.S, no Ghanaian child should end education at the secondary level” Mayor said.
The Metro Director of Education, Mrs. Sally Coleman cautioned candidates to desist from examination malpractices to avoid getting their papers cancelled because measures have been put in place to fish out culprits of examination malpractices. Adding that, lateness will also not be tolerated and urged candidates to be at the examination centers on time. She later revealed that she is impressed with the turnout of candidates at the examination centers. Stating that out of the number of candidates who were registered in the Metropolis, only four (4) were absent with no pregnancy recorded as of the start of the examination. The team in all visited nine (9) centers including, GSTS, Bethel Methodist, Takoradi and St Johns Senior High school in Sekondi.
