The Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul Mumin Issah has presented licensed motorbikes with helmetsto all 54 elected Assembly Members of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.
Hon. Issah in his addressat a brief handing over ceremony indicated that the bikes were made possible bythe Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Local Government,Decentralization and Rural Development for which he expressed his profound gratitude.

He added that the motorbikes are meant to equip the Assembly members with ease of commuting to execute their duties efficiently. He bemoaned the mobility challenges of most Assembly members in the discharge of their responsibilities as the peoples’ representatives.
He, therefore, cautioned the Assembly members to desist from selling their motorbikes and advised themto make good use of the bikes to serve their electorates. He further advised them to ensure regular maintenance of their bikes.
The Mayor finally advised the Assembly members to be careful when riding the motorbikes on our roads. He noted that statistics on the accident rate of motorbikes in the country arealarming and therefore entreated them to desist from overspeeding and drinking alcohol for riding. The Hon. Presiding Memberof STMA, Hon. John Buckman who received the motorbikes on behalf of theAssembly Members thanked the government for coming to their aid and assistingthem with their work. Hon. Buckman assured that they will do their best to make sustainable use of the motorbikes received. He urged the Mayor to convey to the president and the government, their gratitude for the gesture.
