As part of the implementation of the EU-funded Twin-Cities in Sustainable Partnership (TCSPP), a delegation from Palermo Municipality has
visited the Ahantaman Girls Senior High School in Ketan for a possible international exchange programme with a school in Palermo.
Mr. Fracesco Campagna, leader of the delegation, addressing the management of the school, pointed out that the vision for the twinning of
the two port cities is to promote connectivity. He indicated his quest for an international exchange programme for a high school in
Ghana and Palermo on climate-related activities. Mr. Campagna added that most Ghanaian youth in Palermo do not know their roots.
He cited that in Italy, one gets citizenship status at age 18, which sometimes leaves Ghanaian youths in between their faith.
He expressed a possible pilot programme to connect students of Ahantaman GSHS and the Ghanaian youth in Palermo to share their stories. This, according to him, will clear the deep ignorance in Italy about Africa for the positive stories in Ghana to be told. It can only be achieved with the enthused and energetic youth, he added. The Headmistress of the School, Mrs. Ernestina Kankam, thanked the STMA and their Palermo partners for choosing Ahantaman GSHS for the intended programme. She briefed the delegation on the school's international exchange programme with United Kingdom High School in Plymouth. She noted that there were exchange visits among the students to learn from the various cultures and communities they visited while on the exchange programme.

Hinting at their climate change club, she revealed that the club is called Royal Sanitation and Climate Action (ROSCA) Ambassadors. The club is basically engaged in sanitation programmes, such as promoting environmental awareness, plastic waste management, community clean-up projects and water conservation. The Coordinator for TCSPP, Mr. Isaac Aidoo, pointed out that Ahanataman Girls was chosen among the numerous schools because of their positive climate resilience programmes. He urged them to continue with their best practices to attract bigger opportunities as every good deed is eventually rewarded.
