HEADS OF PUBLIC FACING DEPARTMENTS IN STMA ENGAGED ON CREATION OF E-GOVERNMENT PLATFORM

The Consultant developing a service delivery and information disclosure Electronic Governance (e-governance) platform for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) under the auspices of the Twin-Cities in Sustainable Partnership Project (TCSPP), Logig Ghana Ltd has held an interaction meeting with heads of the public facing departments of the Assembly to solicit their input for the design of the platform.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Aziz Mohammed, the Governance and Social Accountability Officer of the TCSPP Secretariat said the meeting forms part of preliminary solicitation of inputs from multiple actors involved in urban governance in the Metropolis to enhance access to information, municipal services and promote civic participation. He added that the platform will enhance access to information and improve responsiveness and efficiency in Metropolitan service delivery in Sekondi-Takoradi.

Mr. Mohammed further noted that, focus group discussions were held with external stakeholders such as the media, civil society, private sector, traditional authorities, women, youth and vulnerable groups in December 2022, to elicit feedback on the design and adoption of a functional and citizen-centric E-Government Platform. In his presentation, the Project Lead of Logig Ghana Ltd, Mr. Nana Baisee noted that the platform will facilitate sharing of information between departments of the Assembly and build a one mega database in the long run. He also added that, the platform will help in building trust between the Assembly and its people which is an essential factor in every good governance. Mr. Baisee noted that the platform will also ensure involvement of the citizens in the Assembly’s decision-making process and demonstrate government’s transparency and accountability.
