The Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, Hon. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, on Monday, February 3, 2025, paid a familiarization visit to the head office of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) in Sekondi. The visit happened to be the first since her election and subsequent swearing-in as one of the three members of parliament for the STMA. In her brief remarks, Hon. Dr. Ayensu-Danquah praised the Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Innocent Haligah and his team for managing the affairs of the Assembly in the absence of the substantive Mayor. She noted that she is ready to collaborate with the Assembly to bring the needed development to her constituents and the entire Sekondi-Takoradi. She acknowledged the vastness of the Essikado-Ketan Constituency and the numerous developmental challenges, especially on roads. She further requested the Assembly’s developmental priorities list and expressed her commitment to lead the Assembly to the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the needed funds and resources to develop the Metropolis. In the meantime, Hon. Dr. Ayensu-Danquah is supporting the Works and Urban Roads Departments of the Assembly to improve the illumination of streets and some selected roads with the Essikado-Ketan Constituency. The Works Department has already started assessment across the constituency to identify the areas that require immediate attention. The Hon. Member of Parliament thanked the officers of the Assembly and encouraged them to continue working diligently to improve the well-being of people in Sekondi-Takoradi. The Metro Coordinating Director on his part, thanked the Hon. Member of Parliament for the visit and assured her of the administration’s readiness to support her during her tenure. Mr. Haligah indicated management’s decision to engage all members of parliament as soon as the new mayor is sworn into office to share with them the plans to improve development in the Metropolis.
