The top management of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), paid a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister, Hon Joseph Nelson, who doubles as the acting Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi to brief him on some issues that require his immediate attention. Led by the Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Innocent Haligah, among the issues the STMA team discussed with the Regional Minister were ongoing donor funded projects, sanitation, congestion and unauthorised trading at the Takoradi CBD, and Sekondi-Takoradi Integrated Markets and Transport Infrastructure Project. The hon. minister emphasized the government's commitment to reset the developmental agenda of the country and entreat the STMA management to promote standards in all its dealings. He expressed concern over the inconsistency in enforcing the Assembly's bye-laws, which gives room for politicization of critical issuesthat affect the city's development. He noted that the culture of relaxing the enforcement of bye-laws and other regulations for political expediency must be a thing of the past. He urged officers of the Assembly to work diligently to improve the lives of people in Sekondi-Takoradi.
