The Bompeh Secondary Technical Senior High School (SHTS) swept four trophies at this year’s Takoradi Zone Inter Schools games held at the Gyandu Park in Sekondi. A total of eight schools competed for boys’ and girls’ trophies in seven games namely volley ball, Table Tennis, basketball, hand ball, net ball, athletics and soccer. Presenting the trophies to the Mayor of Sekondi/Takoradi, Hon. Abdul Mumin-Issah, the Senior House Master, Mr. Enoch Henry Oppong Peprah pointed out that the school was so much excited with the success of their efforts as they had effective training for only three weeks ahead of the games.

He mentioned that training essentials as well as getting students to show interest in the games was quite difficult since the day school was limited by time and resources to train. He pointed out that the school had not been privileged to win such number of awards over a period and applauded the Sports Committee for the strides and the commitment by the Headmistress of the school Mrs. Dorothy Budu-Arthur in making it possible for sweeping 4 trophies in Boys’ soccer, Girls’ soccer, Girls’ volley ball and Girls’ athletics. He was hopeful that their success would arouse the interest of other students to take part in sports as it is also a way to build their physical strength in knowledge acquisition. Mr. Oppong Peprah on behalf of the Headmistress, appealed to the Metropolitan Chief Executive to intervene when called upon as the school had lots of challenges that needed attention for effective management to aid teaching and learning. The MCE, Hon. Abdul Mumin Issah congratulated the management and students of Bompeh SHTS on their efforts and assured them of the Assembly’s support and commitments to improving education in the Metropolis.
