Nine Youth Groups in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have been selected to execute climate-related interventions in their communities as part of the Youth in Climate Action (SYCA) Project funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies in partnership with United Cities and Local Government. The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) invited applications from youth groups in the Metropolis as part of the project implementation. In all, fifteen (15) applications were received, of which thirteen (13) applicants responded, and two failed to appear before the evaluation panel. The evaluation panel selected nine (9) proposals out of the thirteen (13) screened to implement innovative climate interventions in the Metropolis. The final selection was made by a competent evaluation panel set up by the Assembly to carefully scrutinize the proposals and make recommendations for the micro-grant to implement climate action in their respective communities. All the applicants were invited by the Evaluation Panel to pitch their innovative proposals for consideration.

This project is part of the bold actions taken by the Metropolitan Chief Executive of STMA, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah, to address the impact of climate change while providing sustainable jobs for the youth in the Metropolis.
