The fast deterioration of some community roads in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has been a concern to residents, especially motorists amid the reconstruction of selected main roads, the PTC interchange and the Takoradi Port expansion works. The volume of materials transported for these projects and other businesses, such as the cement and tile companies, have significantly contributed to the destruction of some roads in the Twin-City. The situation has necessitated the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) to engage stakeholders whose activities negatively impact the roads. Post Image

The Assembly in the last two weeks, has engaged the stakeholders in two separate meetings and has scheduled the next meeting for Tuesday, February 6, 2023. Some of the companies so far engaged are Justmoh Construction, Viabuild, UNICEM, Kinspok Construction, and China Communication Company. The mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah, has mentioned that there are plans to expand the stakeholders to include others who transport bulk materials to and from the Takoradi port. He bemoaned the speed at which roads in the Metropolis are deteriorating, especially ones recently constructed. He, therefore, urged the stakeholders to cooperate with the Assembly to ensure roads in the city are motorable for all users.
