STMA Hands Over Sites for Construction of SIF Projects

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has handed over the sites for the construction of school infrastructure for the Mberdane and Kansaworado Communities financed by the Social Investment Fund (SIF) to the contractor, Kuf Kak Enterprise Limited. The projects include a six-unit classroom block, a 4-unit teachers' quarters with a borehole for Mberdane M. A. Basic School and a six-unit classroom block with a toilet facility for Kansaworado Catholic Basic School. The Metro Chief Executive of STMA, Hon. Abdul-Mumin Issah, stated that the facilities will improve access to education and enhance delivery by ensuring teachers live within the community, thus promoting better teaching and learning.

The Mayor further emphasized that the ceremony aimed to introduce the contractor to the construction sites and the beneficiary community leaders. He added that the interaction would foster cooperation and ensure the projects are delivered on time. He underscored the government's commitment to education, pointing out that the provision of infrastructure is crucial for boosting school enrolment and improving educational access in rural areas. The Mayor encouraged the community to actively monitor the project's progress and organize communal labour to assist the contractor when necessary. Togbe Demadedja I, SIF Coordinator for the Central, Western, and Western North Regions, assured the community members that the project funding was secure and that construction would proceed as planned. He introduced the five-member Sub Project Management Committee (SPMC) for each project, which consists of reps for the Chief, School SMC, an Opinion Leader, an Assembly Member, and the Head Teacher. The committee will work closely with the contractor to ensure the project is completed on time and according to specifications.

Togbe Demadedja explained that SIF's mission is to deliver targeted assistance to both urban and rural communities in Ghana, including Mberdane, and to provide essential infrastructure for improved living conditions. Present at the ceremony were the Metro Works Engineers, the Director of Education, the Public Relations Officer, the Project Consultants, the Contractor, and some community leaders.
