STMA Marks My First Day at School

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has observed this year’s "My First Day at School" with a visit to selected public basic schools in the Metropolis to distribute books, pencils, erasers, and toffees to first-time pupils. This annual event is held at the beginning of each academic year to welcome pupils starting school. Led by the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Abdul Mumin-Issah, the team visited Essipun M.A. Basic School, Rhyner Paul Anglican Basic School, Sekondi Model School, and others..

Abdul Mumin-Issah, in a brief remark, emphasized that the event is a crucial step in encouraging and attracting children who have reached school-going age to start schooling. He added that these gestures aim to spark an interest in learning and to reassure the students that they are valued and supported. Hon. Mumin-Issah also noted that children represent the nation's future and thus deserve every effort to make their educational experiences positive and engaging. The Mayor expressed the Assembly's commitment to supporting initiatives to promote teaching and learning at all levels of the education sector. Teachers at the schools visited expressed their gratitude for the support of the Assembly and committed to guiding the pupils to become valuable members of society.
