SEKONDI SUB METROPOLITAN DISTRICT COUNCIL OF STMA REWARDS STAFF.

by STMA / December 22nd, 2025 /

As part of activities to climax the year 2025, the Sekondi Sub-Metropolitan District Council of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) organised an end-of-year get-together and awards ceremony for its staff. The event took place in a convivial atmosphere. It featured food, drinks, and awards presented to outstanding officers in recognition of their dedication and hard work throughout the year.

Addressing staff at the durbar, the Sub-Metropolitan Administrator, Ms. Shirlene Konadu Addo, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to all staff for their commitment and sacrifices, which contributed to the successes chalked during the year. She noted that the achievements recorded were worth celebrating, and also provided an opportunity for staff to reflect on the year’s experiences.

Ms. Addo reminded staff of the need to live in harmony despite the challenges encountered during the year. She acknowledged that the year came with difficult moments, including administrative changes, the loss of staff and other unfortunate incidents. However, she stressed that through it all, God had been good, as all departments performed creditably in their respective fields.
She was particularly impressed with the dedication of the revenue staff, commending them for their relentless efforts. She further announced that hardworking staff as well as retired officers would be duly honoured.

Heads of Departments also took turns to address the gathering, encouraging staff to remember the essence of Christ’s birth, forgive one another and continue to work together in unity as they celebrated.

From the Human Resource Department, Ms. Florence Acquah observed that staff gatherings are often characterised by criticism from superiors regarding performance and attitude to work. However, she noted that the Sekondi Sub-Metro’s experience had been different. She therefore urged staff to reflect on their attitudes and strive for positive change in the coming year to attract more development and success.

The Head of Revenue, Mr. Charles Cobbinah, appealed to staff and the general public to remember revenue collectors in their prayers, describing their work as herculean and often characterised by verbal abuse and other challenges. He nevertheless pledged the department’s continued commitment to improving revenue performance in the sub-metro.

In all, awards were presented in five categories. The 2025 Best Revenue Collector award went to Ms. Philipa Kwofie, while the Overall Highest Revenue Collector award was presented to Ms Ethel Quarm. Retiree Awards were given to Madam Ethel Fummey and Madam Gladys Essuman, a Market Supervisor who also serves as a Revenue Superintendent. Each award was accompanied by an undisclosed cash prize.
The award recipients expressed gratitude to the Sub-Metropolitan Administrator for the recognition and pledged to work collaboratively to achieve greater success in the coming year. They also encouraged their colleagues to remain dedicated and hardworking so that they could collectively achieve excellence. The event was attended by Sekondi market queens, officers from the STMA main office, Takoradi, and Essikado-Ketan Sub-Metros.
