THE MAYOR OF SEKONDI-TAKORADI INTERACTS WITH TRADITIONAL LEADERS IN THE METROPOLIS

The new Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. Fredrick Faustinus Faidoo, has paid a courtesy call to the traditional councils in the Metropolis as part of his familiarisation engagements with stakeholders. The visit took the mayor and his team to the Sekondi Traditional Council, Essikado Traditional Council, the chief of Takoradi and the Queen mother of Takoradi Amanful stool.

Accompanied by the Acting Metro Coordinating Director, the Presiding Member, and some department heads, the team was received at the Sekondi Palace by Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II, the Acting President of the Council and the Chief of Fijai.

Addressing the Council Members, Hon. Faidoo indicated his readiness to collaborate with the traditional authorities to ensure a well-developed metropolis. “I take inspiration from the legacies of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to leave a mark that will remain on the hearts of the people many years to come”.

The Acting President of the council admonished the mayor to abide by truthfulness and endeavour to leave a lasting legacy He again appealed for more developmental projects, such as the reconstruction of the Sekondi Market to revive the socio-economic activities in Sekondi.

At Essikado Traditional Council, the MCE again pledged his willingness to work with the Traditional Authorities to make the necessary development strides.
The Queen Mother of Essikado, Nana Ekua Kodu II, advised the MCE not to meddle in chieftaincy affairs and rather work with only recognized representatives of the Traditional Councils.

The Omanhene of the Essikado Traditional Area and President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, admonished the MCE to uphold his family’s integrity to leave a legacy. He prevailed upon him to collaborate with all the parliamentarians and work according to the best interest of the people they serve.

The familiarization engagements ended in Takoradi with a visit to Osahene Katekyi Busumakura III, Divisional Chief of Takoradi, and Nana Ekua Mansah III, queen mother of Takoradi Amanful Ebiradze stool and their elders. They all expressed their readiness to support the new mayor to fulfil his vision for the people of Takoradi and Sekondi-Takoradi as a whole.
