The management of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) on Monday, January 12, 2026, held its maiden meeting for the year at the Assembly’s Conference Room to review performance in 2025 and outline programmes and activities for 2026. The meeting was chaired by the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Frederick F. Faidoo, and was attended by Heads of Departments and selected Unit Heads of the Assembly.
Opening the meeting, Hon. Faidoo expressed his appreciation to the Heads of Departments for their cooperation and support since he assumed office early last year. He called for renewed commitment and even stronger collaboration in 2026 and throughout his tenure to help achieve the Assembly’s development objectives.
The Mayor indicated that this year, management’s focus would be on improved revenue mobilisation, effective development control, and timely delivery of assignments by staff across all departments. He urged officers to demonstrate professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
The Metropolitan Coordinating Director, in his remarks, stressed the importance of punctuality and discipline at the workplace. He tasked Heads of Departments to ensure that their staff report to work on time and close at the official time of 5:00 pm. He also announced new arrangements aimed at controlling the Assembly’s expenditure and appealed to officers to cooperate fully to ensure prudent financial management.
All Heads of Departments briefed the meeting on their achievements in 2025 and outlined their planned activities for 2026. Among key programmes and activities discussed for implementation in 2026 include the Government’s initiative to construct a 24-hour market at Kojokrom, the Feed Ghana (Nkokɔkɛtsinkɛtsii) programme, and the distribution of coconut and oil palm seedlings to farmers to boost local agriculture.
The others are reconstruction of the Takoradi to Cape Coast Highway under the Big Push Programme, the award of contracts for repair works on streetlights along major roads, reshaping of selected inner roads, and intensified efforts to arrest and prosecute owners of stray cattle within the Metropolis.
The meeting underscored management’s commitment to coordinated planning, accountability, and efficient service delivery as the Assembly works towards accelerated development in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in 2026.
